While the hot summer season comes, it is a Chinese movie goers' peak time. However, it usually also is the period of national films protection which is normally lasting about 2 months, and is untold practice in public. It intends to protect the market of Chinese national films from powerful foreign movies imported from western movie production giants such as The Pixar , DreamWorks Studios, Illumination Inc.,and etc.

Is it necessary to continue executing this policy of national films protection? Different people hold distinct opinions over that. The two opposing viewpoints of them become popular recently.The backers who support this policy illuminate the phenomenon that the current native movies are still beaten by oversea films as before,this policy contributes to the prosperity of Chinese film production .The opponents argue that the protection policy creates a greenhouse without competition,so that almost every Chinese movie can achieve pleasant box office record easily,even it does not possess the matching high quality in some foreign film making.  This policy promotes growth in the greenhouse environment but it does not encourage real world market competition and excellence in the film production.

My mother once told me that “if you want to destroy kids’ future, then never put them in a tough world.” I strongly believe the same principle is true to the film industry. We shouldn’t spoil the national movies anymore.  Only after the national films protection has be canceled by government, the Chinese film business is given a real chance to make progress, innovation, and advancement.  The competition in the marketplace will let Chinese movie makers confront wth their competitors and force them to strive to win!
