Sun god and his chariot

27 views. 2020-11-12 09:55 |Individual Classification:Greek myths in my own words

Sun god always drove a chariot. The chariot was made of gold, with jewels set at the front. The four winged horses were fiery and hot tempered. Everyday, Sun fed the horses with magical herbs, hay and oats, to strengthen their wings.

A child was born in the west, and he was always bullied by other children. They thought he was an illegimate child, homeless and lonely. However, the child claimed that he was the child of the Sun.

He traveled east, and at last he arrived at Sun’s Palace. Sun King sat on his throne. Two courtiers, Time and Season, stood at both sides. The boy was brave and he called Sun aloud.

Sun recognized the boy as his own son. And Sun was glad. He asked his son to rest on his knees, and allowed him to make three wishes.

I have just one wish. Said the boy. I want to drive your chariot.

Sun hesitated and he was worried. However, a promise was a promise. He nodded.

The child was glad. He dashed to the stable and tethered the winged horses on the winged chariot. The horses were fiery. He stood on the chariot and drove on. The horses lost their temper and galloped in and out of puffy clouds. The boy’s weight was too light, and the horses were flurried, loosing control and running with full speed.

At last, the chariot was toppled. The horses flew off and the chariot fell in Africa, catching fire and burning the whole continent.
