Joining the Flat Earth Society

The "Flat Earth Society" may have been given a bad rap (been represented in a bad light).  As a scientist, I have a theory that supports the idea that the earth is indeed flat and not spherical as most believe.  First, we need some definitions.

Point - a dimensionless location, without height, length, or width, usually expressed as coordinates.  0, 0, 0 might be a starting point in a three dimensional system, for example.

Line - a one dimensional shape, with length, but without width or height.

Plane - a two dimensional shape, with length and width, but without height.

Cube or sphere - a three dimensional shape with length, width, and height. Many other types of three dimensional shapes exist, such as cones.

Now, why would I claim that the earth is two dimensional?  First, let's make the argument that the earth is a point.  When one considers the vast distances of interstellar space, earth could easily be represented by a point.  Consider that at the speed of light is 186,000 miles per second (and who's to say it is not 186,000.000000000000001 miles per hour) the distance to even the nearest star makes the earth insignificant.  Indeed, as defined by science, significant requires no more than four decimal points.  That is, it is insignificant whether the earth has 7,000,000,000 people or 7,000,111,111.  Among 7 billion, 111,111 are insignificant.  The size of the earth is much, much less significant when compared to the scale of the university.  Earth is not just flat.  It becomes a dimensionless point of no importance at all in the cosmic scheme of things.

Nevertheless, we are here.  We can see two dimensions.  I can go north, south, east, or west indefinitely.  Indefinitely could be defined as a day, week, or even month.  I'd never reach the ocean or the end.  Compared to height, length and width are significant and height is insignificant.  Anywhere I go, I'm on the surface, walking 0 inches in the air most of the time.  That's two dimensional.  From a human perspective, the earth is indeed flat, statistically speaking.  The Flat Earth Society is right!  http://theflatearthsociety.org/cms/

All I was taught was the globe is round. When you set off from Beijing straight across the Pacific ocean and on, then you would end up back in Beijing.

My point is that it is round only in space.  As far as humans are concerned, the earth is very flat.  We live on the surface most of the time, in a two dimensional landscape.  We rarely move very much in the third dimension.
