Introextrovert

Hot 1628 views. 2015-6-25 16:37

My first wife called my an introvert and hermit, but she was wrong.  My doc got it right ten years later when he called me a "Type A personality."  Why the contrast?  As a leader, I like to lead from behind (watch the party of new people from a corner with my nose in a book before I decide who are my friends and how to take over the world; I'm also a dictator by trade).  Actually, several personality tests pegged me as a dictator.  Dictators don't particularly like to lead.  But if you put us in positions of leadership, we will lead with an iron fist.  When I had my own construction crew, I noticed that (as did the crew, duh).  When my wife starts saying, "Yes, Sir!" I know I've taken it too far!  My sister says I think too much.  My coworkers called me "deep" and "deep thinker."  So, I'll create a new word.  That's what dictators like me are.  I like the best of both worlds; perhaps I'm an introextrovert.

You are an ambivert.

Since introverts and extroverts are the extremes of the scale, the rest of us fall somewhere in the middle. Many of us lean one way or the other, but there are some who are quite balanced between the two tendencies. These people are called ambiverts.

Ambiverts exhibit both extroverted and introverted tendencies. This means that they generally enjoy being around people, but after a long time this will start to drain them. Similarly, they enjoy solitude and quiet, but not for too long. Ambiverts recharge their energy levels with a mixture of social interaction and alone time.

Actually, the difference between introverts and extroverts was that they simply had different levels of arousal—meaning the extent to which our minds and bodies are alert and responsive to stimulation.

By the way I just came across a newspaper article about financial problems. I thought only my friends were living off credit cards, but seems others are in trouble too ...
