In the late 1960s, I first considered myself a writer. I graduated from high school in 1970, something that will help you understand this blog. In school, my parents moved many times, 18 times in 18 years, mostly from California back and forth to Arkansas, Florida, and twice to North Carolina. I met a few girls during that time but found if I wrote a letter to a girl I never got a response. Now that I'm older I realize it was probably because most people don't write letters. While I have eight siblings, I rarely get a paper letter from them and almost always those are at Christmas when Americans tend to send Christmas cards and sometimes include a letter. At that time, in the 1960s, I hated studying English. But when we had to start writing stories, my teachers liked my work. I even became the "news editor" of the small high school newspaper in Arkansas.
At age 18, I started college and decided I wanted to publish at least one major scientific paper in my life. If you search the internet for "Philip E. Hyatt" and "Carex" you can find some of my publications on line. At age 30, in 1982, I decided to write my autobiography. I completed the first version with only 35,000 words covering 1952 to 1970 in 1991. I started expanding it in 2009 and it now has more than 300,000 words. I want to write an autobiography in Chinese, but I still need to improve my use of Chinese!
In 2009, I started my first book of fiction. I have started a few other books since then, but none are published. That's ok. I just like to write!
