My neighbor talks me of her bargaining story of wet market. After retirement she has much time to consume freely and sometimes it is also boring to stay home in a long time. She often spends several hours wandering in the market nearby. Unlike other customers, she observes vegetables and sorts out those with slight bruise. Then she argues vendors those she picked to be sold in some discount. They feel it not bad to clear out those bruised vegetables at a low price, and believe the lady does a favor. They all accept the proposal of hers. Sometimes, it could be a bag of tomatoes at one third of its initial price, a fish which is about to dying on account of oxygen deficiency, some apples at half of its original price, etc. It is always a pleasant purchasing when she comes back with bags of vegetables and fruits, which usually can sustain the whole family for days.
She finds happiness by killing leisure like that otherwise it definitely causes her anxiety by staying indoors all day long. Then she demonstrates nice cuisine by cooking all of those bargaining items which actually remain good after proper dispose. A yummy beef curry with luscious onion and tomato juice which would be sold at a high price in a restaurant now she just makes. Many other good foods are also deserved to taste. She says it does not prove that she is mean to buy something. It only teaches everyone the concept of economy and some good habits of life enjoying, though not everyone is likely to do that, I read her lifestyle.

- Since mom passed away a few years ago, I had to buy and prepare food by myself. Twice a week, after work in the evening I go to the wet market to buy vegetables and other food. I actually don't like to go to the market because I feel it is kind of weird for a guy to buy these things, but I found quite a lot of men buying too.
I would not bargain and sometimes I know they overcharge me because they think this guy don't know anything. Then one day kind lady shopper brought me aside at the market and taught me the secrets of wet market shopping. She told me you buy around 6 pm which is not a favorable time to shop. She told me to come around 7:30 pm when they are closing and you would get the same vegetables almost half price. I went at that time and criticize the diminished quality and freshness of the vegetables and they immediately sold it to me at a big discount. Why pay more for the same thing?
On some days, I don't feel like cooking, I go out to eat at the small restaurants with a friend. People always say, you have to walk when the horse is gone, so I have to face it.
Your neighbor is smart to buy those vegetables through bargaining. It is all a matter of willing buying and selling. Perhaps those vegetable could rot if she did not buy them, so both sides should be happy.

The first few years, when I was in Australia, I used to buy discount stuff in the supermarket so that I can save money, and I felt happy that time as I got a good bargain.
Still now, there’s always half price in the supermarket for promotion, but it can be the fresh one, I always buy a lot, think about it can be saved half price, why not.
By the way, everything will be on special at the supermarket in Australia. It’s not like China , only the old stock on sale.

- When there is something we can buy at a low price meanwhile it assures the qualify of those stuff we want, it is so sure we should buy. Years of experience by living in Australia has fostered the good attitude of independence through the manipulation of dealing with various of life affairs.

The difference between the mainland and other developed countries still exists, while it is now getting closer on some level. Many of those advanced knowledge and management are introduced and finally used in the workplace and companies. That is the fast developing speed we witness the growth in recent years.

We feel free to cook which would be an enjoyable experience. While sometimes we got some things to deal with and meanwhile the cooking will cost us much time, so we can just go out to eat. Anyway much of time should be saved to do something meaningful, such as reading, studying, and physical training. If there is too much time consumed on the cooking it just can turn back to be a bad thing. Since we just can not have fun with the true happiness. Especially in the fast paced society, we have so many things to cope with and learn. Time is money.
My neighbor is just on her way to spare twilight life. I can read her style which inspires me something. Since I am not that kind of a person who is likely to bargain with shoppers. But now, I know to master the skill and time to talk with them, so that I can buy something at an ideal price.
The dragon boat festival is coming, and I can have yummy Zongzi or rice dumplings, very exciting.
