A story about a drought duck

1587 views. 2012-2-7 16:58 |

I feel embarrassed because I have so much to say but I cannot figure out how to begin the writing and even cannot think out a proper title. Anyway, blame is mine. I will start my blog with something happened yesterday.
It is very cold these days in Hunan, and what't worse, it rains a lot. Yesterday was Lantern Festival, and my father's birthday was the day before. After we celebrated my father's birthday, Ruis and I decided to go back to his home to spend the Lantern Festival together with his families. My parents asked me to bring the drought duck to his home which was given by one of our relatives . They didn't kill the duck and kept feeding it because it tastes better if the duck is fresh. I agreed with them, so yesterday morning I took a living duck with me to Changsha South Railway Station. We put our baggage through the X-ray machine as usual, however, the security personnel wanted me to give him the red bag when I was about to grab all my baggage to leave. I was wondering what's the matter and I gave it to him to check. I never come across such thing although I took CRH many times before. Well, it's the living duck's problem. He said it is not allowed to take living ducks or chickens to the CRH. The guy quickly put the duck beside his feet as if it was his. I said I didn't know there was such a rule and I had to take it away since my parents didn't kill it for a special purpose and it was supposed to be given away to someone. What the security said was annoying. Ruis and I felt at a loss, but we came to an agreement that we'd rather give the duck to strangers instead of that villain. That guy threatened me to give up taking the CRH and said you can go to take the train or bus. Oh please, it is Spring Rush now, OK? Anyway, I had to say the security personnel is a typical villain who has a swelled head although he just gets some small power. There is no doubt that there are many “officers" like him. They totally forget the aim of "serve the people", instead, they try their best to make use of the power to gain profits. Shame on them.
It would be a pity if we failed to take the living duck with us. Later Ruis advised me to butter up another security personnel who looks friendly. "I cannot help you to take the duck to the CRH since it is the rule but you can ask the chef in the CRH canteen do you a favor to kill it." answered him. I thanked him and quickly ran to the canteen downstairs. Finally, I had the living duck killed and brought it on the CRH successfully.

Sheena, glad to see you coming back here today. really so long time no see here, i guess maybe your study life is very busy. as i know, some graduate course really not so easy to accomplish, maybe yours like so too.

so funny your story, the duck become a real trouble in you guys' trip. rules is made by people, i think the second one is wiser than the first guy. anyway, you have succeeded to pick it on your bf's home, i think his mum must very glad to see your gift.

happy festival, happy birthday to your dad.

What an unforgettable experience you've had! It's pleasing to know that you finally fixed the whole problem. The workman was not tatally wrong when he didn't allow you to bring the living duck along. Living poultry could make noises or give a bad smell. If other passengers complain, some one will come to interfere. So the duck could be your problem even if you are aboard. What made the guy despisable is that he wanted to possess something that doesn't belong to him. I like the second guy who is clever and flexible. Anyway, don't let the unhappy incident spoil your mood for an enjoyable gathering.

The rules of CRH seems to continiously changing and they announce those changes publicly. Some of the railway employees are greedy and  rude. I was wondering why you don't buy the duck at your destination? You must be having a good reason for that.

At the first sight to see the tittle, I thought this may be a story about someone who can't swim...what a big surprise to see the real story!

Thank you for your wishes. I was extremely busy last term since I had to get up around 6:40 every Monday, Tuesday, Thursday to get on the school bus and began to teach. Besides, I had classes to take. During the last term, I experienced much pressure. Anyway, I "survived". Hehe.

Yes, I despise the first guy just because he intended to take possession of the duck which doesn't belong to him. I didn't realize it would be a problem to take the living poultry to CRH until yesterday. You are right. Living poultry will make noises or smell not so good which will influence other passengers. Next time I won't take living poultry with me.

I guess I should google whether I can take the living poultry with me or not before I went to the railway station. The living drought duck is kind of local products. It tastes better than those sold in the food market. You must know people prefer the local eggs to the man-made eggs.

Haha..I am sorry that my title makes you confused. At first I didn't know how to translate it in English, then I got the "drought duck" on Baidu.

I don't know in other countries whether it's also agsinst the policy or not to bring living animals by RH...you are very lucky to have the nice personnel.

no doubt the first security-check man is as greedy as the landlord living in the old society, and he knew the tricky of power abuse on behalf of standing upright. didn't you detect any traces of shame from his face, did you? those kinds of persons are far from many. what a shame! however it seems there is something wrong with our society to encourage such behavior somewhere in the corner.

If I had a good knowledge of the rules, it could be avoided.

Yeah, you can say that again. His facial expression is so ugly..I just can't bear it. Every time I met people like him, I was told to be strong and don't behave like them. Society is complicated and as a new social man, we should try to adapt to different situations.

I have to agree with you.  Some specialty food are special and those produced in other regions cannot match them. I guess that is why in Beijing, duck is often seen in restaurant menus and chicken are often found in Southern province menus. I guess nobody can make better Chicken dishes than Hainan and Hainan chicken is world famous, even though somebody told me that Hainan chicken originated from another country.

So I can tell that Hainan chicken is one of  your favorite food. I don't have the chance to taste it yet. I do dream to take a trip to Hainan in the near future. But the report of rip-offs of Sanya makes us hesitating. If I go there one day, I must try the Hainan chicken. Heihei.
