A New Way to Learn English

Hot 82340 views. 2014-10-27 18:27

If you want to learn English well, so the first thing you have to do is to forget Chinese completely. When we were in elementary school, we learn Chinese with Chinese. In the first year of junior middle school, we learn English with Chinese, so how could we expect to learn English to native level? So now we decide to change it to learn English with English.

We learn everything through Chinese, that’s why Chinese is native to us. Though we have more knowledge than kids in US or UK, we have to learn English with English from scratch.

Now I force myself to delete Chinese input method and there is also no tool such as xdict from Kingsoft. I force myself to think everything in English instead of Chinese. In a word, forget Chinese, just treat English as my only language.

It’s time for us to get English education from elementary school to college, maybe to doctor’s degree. Suppose we were born in US, though English comes from UK, US is more developed.

In a word, forget Chinese, English is our only language. Ready? Let’s go for the English education from A to Z for language includes every subject.

Places

We have to know places in US, or else how could we call us American? Do you suppose to hear about Chinese doesn’t know Chinese places? No.

Of course we start to learn New York City firstly. New York City is the most influential city in the US. When we watched the soap drama Friends, we knew the city from then on.

Even though you’ve never been to New York before, I guess you’ve heard of Statue of Liberty and Central Park, right? Statue of Liberty represents democracy of the United States. Central Park is the place for urban people to enjoy the charm of nature.

I have to go home to cook my supper, see you guys tomorrow!

Impressive opinion! To learn English through English. I think we should also learn to think in the way English-speakers think.

It is helpful to learn English through English to some degree, but we are not as pure as kids, and it is difficult for me to give up e-dictionary after enjoying its convenience. I am looking forward to enjoy the next place from your words...

It sounds very reasonable, but i am afraid it's hard to move on for me. I think i can't do it. I can not stop myself from thinking in Chinese way firstly, because it comes very naturally. I admire you for your strong confidence and powerful perseverance.

Language is a tool and the tool includes everything. So I always doubt people who claim he is proficient in dozens of languages. To me, it’s hard to be proficient in a single foreign language. We learn a foreign language, what’s more important, we have the learn huge culture behind it.

Yeah, if English comes to you naturally, then English is your native language instead of Chinese. We know it’s really hard to learn a foreign language to native level, somebody even says it’s impossible to achieve that. Since we’re English learners, at least it’s worth a shot. Marx told us to forget native language at first while learning foreign language, of course this is hard for rookie, but not for everybody who can write smoothly here.

Hehe, we’re Chinese, so of course there is Chinese thing in our English, but we can try to get rid of Chinese gradually. Once we can get rid of it completely, surely our English will become native. Now since we get a newer level, we can learn English with English. Why our Chinese is native? Because we learn Chinese with Chinese and we never use English to learn Chinese. We spend a lot of time learning English while English people don’t spend a lot of time particularly learning English. They can think everything in English, English is in their blood, I guess that’s the reason we’re inferior to them.

I admit it’s really difficult. If it’s easy for everyone, then there is no meaning for us English learners. Comparing with English children, surely our vocabulary and knowledge are superior, yet their English is better, why? The English thinking way.

All roads lead to Rome. Hehe, as long as you find it's useful. Chairman Mao's Chinese is no doubt amazing, but that isn't helpful for him to learn English. I mean while using one language, there is on need to consider of other languages, not forgeting Chinese.
