Poor listenning and speaking english

Hot 41479 views. 2014-2-21 11:19 | speaking, english

Recently I got a call to make an appointment for an interview. I did some preparation for professional knowledge. And I arrived the company at half past nine in the morning. Receptionist provided me a visitor register book to sign my visiting record. Then she took me to a meeting room and gave me a piece of written examination and personal basic information form. All items on the papers are in English, so I should fill/answer it in English two. I was finishing it for one and half hour. I returned the papers to the receptionist, then she invited a man about 30 years old to interview me after fifteen minutes.

First I should introduce myself in English. Because I have done preparation for this, I did it well. Then he also asked me some professional question in English. This is difficult for me to answer it in English. So I gave out very simple answer. Then he started free talk with me. My listening English is poor, I couldn’t understand what he said completely, so I couldn’t answer it. So we start talk in Chinese. He said, your professional is enough for this job, but you will communicate with American very frequently in this job. If your listening and oral English are not well. It’s difficult for me to do the job well. so you should enhance your listening and speaking English….

Yes, many personal’s written English is well that because there is enough time for us to find words and write. When I am writing I don’t know how to use some words and what words I could use to express my meaning. Now my vocabulary is very not enough, and I can’t speak smoothly. And some word will be missing when it’s on the top of my tongue. All these attributed to my less listening and speaking.

Strange. Somehow, your writing is not too bad, smooth and pleasant to read.

You really think it is easy for me to write? I also have to compose the facts in my mind and then find the right words to put it in writing. The only difference is that I use English on a daily basis. So you can see that when you have more practice, you would improve.

I can understand why you find it is difficult to converse in English because, it is really not easy to think of a reply and construct it in English within a few seconds.

There again, the more you practice speaking, the more fluent you would be.
You can do it.

What you need is exercise, spend some time to improve it and then you will find you will better than what you are now.
Most of us are good at writting that is because we almost use that way to learn of English, but we seldom speak it out.
Supposing that we speak it everyday with people and comuunicate to foreigners so often, it is even not a problem for  us.
All in all, practice makes perfect. Good luck!
