Working for the Private or the Public?

Yesterday, I was noticed to be interviewed at a private travel agency. As for travel, I arose some kind of favour probably influenced by my major that is/belongs to humanity, though not being known the requirements of the particular position I was supposed to be in. I had a few talk with the manager—who is probably at his mid- or late-20s, coughing at some intervals, and seems not as talktive as those tour guides, often reminded once mentioned travel industry. Then I got some general knowledge about the job, and then confused, confronting another chance to work at bank, whether it is a good choice for me to stick to what I originally and long-term wished.

Should I keep doing what I know about or make a breakthrough to some region I do not know but maybe a chance to change my life? Should I stick to what I like to do or challenge myself to mastery another competence? Should I pursue my life goal or long for accomplishing my career goal? What do I want? And what do I need? These are complicated questions stuck in my head, but all-in-all one question with different aspects to be dealt with.

Affected by my humanity major and self-instinct, I would like to choose some occupations within the same kind of area, in which sense, travel seems more attracting compared with finance. However, those social works are with solid teeth to the social development. As we do not live in fiction or by imagine, we need to do something rather than think. As people often say, the world does not lack of people who dream, but people who make their dreams come true. Therefore, living in the society, we need to do something to keep the city runing and even to make city better, and social work becomes one of the best-available guides that I can enumerate such as science and technology, to solve social problems and to push our lives forward.

In addition, a private agency cannot fight against a national public enterprise/company in whatever finance, workforce, or synethesis capability. To choose what I am interested, in this case, means to remain unstable as in its weakness under social protection; while on the contrary, work for a public warehouse can assure wealth of each individual so as to imply the prosperity of a nation as a whole. Thus wealth in each individual is crucial for the nation. But it does not mean at all that one should give up what he or she believes in. To accomplish one’s dream does not mean that he or she is doomed to fail in making contribution to his or her nation, although it is known as a pair of philosophical controversy argument. Some say one cannot own both fish and bear palm, but what if we do own them both? Remember we have two hands and many other gestures that can hold things? We should not be timid, for we already have lots of “the impossibles” that decades ago people confirmed would not exisit, things like lights, planes, private computers and more.

Let us make it clearer. From the very beginning, people existed in the world do not only want to survive, when they do can keep their lives in safety, rather than taking control by wars or diseases, they want wealth and other things that could make them valued. With each individual getting rich and peaceful, the nation prospers. And an ideal nation prospers for its people to enjoy, to utilize, ultimately to make better life. There we should say that the benefits of each individual and of a nation are separate parts respectively meanwhile mingled inter-dependently.

So far, what I determined is to make the nation affluent by gaining interests primarily in my pocket… It is the second time for me to make a decision between literary and arts and general knowledge, and the second time to choose the latter on my own. What’s more, I will not forget that faith like what I have always done to music and piano all these years.
