What will you do when you have to live in a not familiar city?

i can't bear to live in a strange city.
i finish my university in Shanghai, and many classmates work in Shanghai. i remember when we graduated, graduation office in our university offered me a very good job with higher salary in a large company in Guangzhou. i refused without much hesitation.
i can't imagine to live in a city with no friends. i have to stay at home alone, go shopping alone, do anything alone, what's more, i can't understand the lacal language Cantonese. this is really terrible.
