can we find true friends in college?

There seems to be a wide agreement that one cannot find a true friend in colleg for many reasons, such as different backgrounds, habits or even unwillingness to fully open  one's heart, but i grew to know that otherwise. Actully i have several good friends, with whom i  share happiness and sorrows and to whom i hold gratitude. I think as college students, we have rights to hide some privates and secrets, however  that makes no excuse for our lack of true friends.As long as we open our heart, there will always be friends not far from you. What's your opinion?

absolutely yes~~but in the college,i think it is more convenience to be alone at most of the time,sure i enjoy getting together with my friends and my classmates,don't spend much time together isn't mean that's not a real friendship,just we get more chances to improve ourselves,
so in that case,compared to high school,we spend less time to kown more about our new friends.

sure ,  there   always  some  true  friendship  in  the  college  if  you  really  want  to  hunt  it  ,  what   you  choice  to  do  is  dapend  upon   yourself

i am worse than urs, in my life , most classmates were female. living with them , i changed my personality somehow, i became nice and more patient. i had to make a good relationship with them , but right now , looking back , the life after school, i got friends surely, but no so-called REAL FRIENDS, they would contact me if they need my help. maybe years later, they would get i am a nice mornitor ,i cares all , it's been 2 years , i still remember their english names seriously....
So, friends making on the campus? Time can tell u the truth.
