I learned an article yesterday evening called " Into the wild ",that made me many impressions.
Chris McCandless, a young man from a wealthy American family. He graduated from Emory University, had a good education background, also came from a comfortable family background .His father had a business which he ran efficiently, and he controlled his own family in a similar way ,that perhaps made Chris lost a lot of freedom.
Chris sent his parents a letter containing his final reports, and then no one ever heard from him again ,he changed his name left his car in some woods and burned all his money .He just wanted to survive with nature. For next two years ,he hitched to various parts of the U.S.A and Mexico. He enjoyed the freedom.
However ,reality soon changed the dream. He was starving ,had no choice to choose food. Wild ducks, squirrels, birds, wild potatoes, wild mushrooms...that is very dangerous to eat them. The wild potato plant that was poisonous. He became weaker and weaker as he was starving to death.
At last ,he took a photo of himself ,one hand holding his final note ,the other hand raised in a brave goodbye .His face is horribly thin ,but he is smiling in the picture ,and the look in his eyes says 'I am at peace.'His dead body was found by a group of hunters. That is his young life.
What a pity! But I really admire his brave spirit. My classmates all said Chris is selfish, didn't take any responsibilities for his parents. But I don't think so . That 's the cultural differences between the Eest and West .
