A few  things have happened over the last couple of days.

I found something interesting out about my dorm. Besides being surrounded by South Koreans (I believe my roommate is South Korean as well, he still has not made an appearance) there are special, large nice looking dorms at the end of the hall. These turn out to be dorms for Graduate students and their families.  I find it odd, one side of the hall is young college students the other family life. At least the families tend to be quit.  No complaints about the South Koreans either, So far they have turned out to be quieter and friendlier than the swimmers I shared a hall with in Texas.  I have been talking to a couple of them in English and their English is ok, but it’s funny to hear them curse.  One of them said “My English is bad, it is god dam”  Another one banged his knee on his bike and said “I’m fucked”

The other  news is that I got to register for classes.  Talking to other Exchange students from America about registration, I really felt loved and protected by UT. Not. Haha all the other exchange students it seems have laid out classes for the them, with guide lines from the university on what to take and what not to take. Texas; I just sign up for whatever I feel like. Which may be better in the end because I have more liberty, but at the same time who knows if I will get credit for my classes.  The other big pain was sign up being done online in Chinese.  I can’t read Chinese, and I’m not 100% sure of what classes I’m registered for. I just pray on Monday, everything will turn out how it should be.  What I should be taking is Growth analysis,  econometrics, Chinese listening, and Chinese reading.  Yes, the Chinese classes are split into three groups listening, reading, and speaking. I couldn’t fit the speaking into my schedule, it conflicted with the econ class I have to take.  The other catch is I’m only allowed to take 8 hours outside my major, all of the Chinese classes add up to 11 hours.  I will have to wait to tell you how these language classes pan out. I don’t know how you can read and listen(understand) a language but not be able to speak it.

I may find more out today at orientation, but I’m not counting on it. True fully I don’t know what to expect from this orientation…. I will let you know
