The Impression of Chongqing

697 views. 2013-1-30 18:58 |

Chongqing is a place where I used to go, when my son was still a little lovely baby and was being taken care of by my mother-in-law.  During those days, even in  festivals like the Spring, it was very dirty and in disorder, especially after raining, which makes me still remember once I didn’t know where I should put my feet when getting out of the train stationand going into the streets, where I felt I was just like stepping into a shallow mudy pool where the mud was as deep as to cover my shoes.
In the Spring festeval of this year, we stayed in Chongqing altogether for half a month.  This time it appeaed complitely different.  Everything has changed.  The buildings have grown into high ones, better and higher than those in Yunnan kunming, and the roads better, wider and newer than I had expected, and the cars on the roads seen were more and  seemed to be much luxurious.  Bridges now play a more important role connecting people and transportation between valleys and mountains, for which Chongqing was and is famous, and which makes your way going out and back much easier.  It is said that there are more than tweenty bridges over Changjiang River in Chongqing area. And as for the transportation tools, I found many family have their own, with four wheels instead of  two . Taking my brother- in-law for example, he has two at home, one is an Accord, and the other, a Passat, which are both above the middle level, which means the  living standard in Chongqing is among the uper part of China.
For the reason of heavy snow, the price of vegetables and fruits in the market were much higher than those in Yunnan, but lucky enough we still had enough for our supply of the festivals.  Perhaps this was all because of the leadship of Mr Bo Xilai, the mayor of Chongqin, one of the members of the political bureau.
During the two weeks’ stay, we went to visit two of the famous places of both traditional and historical towns, one of which is called Zhongshan and the other Ciqikou.  Both are well presered for tourism and for keeping Chongqin’s local history.  Zhongshan is  reall ay beautiful town, lying in a valley with a river going between and an anciant stone bridge over it, which will make you enter the beauty of a traditional Chinese painting of mountains and water, especially in a weather in which everything is covered with a light frog and in a slight rain sent by also a slight north wind.  The buildings are all built of wood in traditional Chinese style along the steep river bank with a narrow street made of carved stones going through the whole town in between.  Stepping onto the stone steps will surely lead you into the peaceful and quiet life of Old Shu Kingdom. While Ciqikou is a traditional town of old Sichuan, which is crowded with all kinds of things along its streets full of the richness of Sichuan culture from eating, clothing, art so on and so forth.
On the Eve of the coming of the old year, we drove to the bank of Changjiang, to light the fireworks, following the old costum. We fired a whole box, which had at least as many as two hundred pieces inside, and took us about half an hour to finish, racketing through into the space , flashing and lighting the sky with different colour shining, shocking to send all old things away.
The getting together was a big one except for one member, my nevew’s absence, who was just out in the US for her learning for from master to doctor degrees. And the other members of old family also came to enjoy the reunition from Chengdu and also Chongqing.  It made the young happy to have time to relux from their ardual learning , the old  satisfied to see the member they wanted to see in their limitted life time, and the middle to have time to forget all about things concerning carea, duty, task, or something else to sit down with their old and young in the family in a real spare time belonging to themselves to comfort and relux themselves.
