Shenzhen is an amazing city in China, it is not political center like Beijing, not economic center like Shanghai, not international to the world like Hongkong, not long history like Xi'An, while when more and more people talked about cities in China, they mentioned Shenzhen. Absolutely Shenzhen if more and more famous and popular in the world wide.

 

- Shenzhen has only 30 years history, it was named as "Shenzhen" in 1979. Before that it was almost just a small fishing village.

- The rapid development was due to special economic policy. Shenzhen was one of the five special economic zones which were allowed to attract foreign investment to set companies and factories.

- Shenzhen has over 12 millions persons living in the city, while more than half are workers in the factories; of course also many well-educated young guys come here every year.

- More and more foreigners come to Shenzhen to run business, mostly buying China-made products and sending back to sell. In the beginning foreigners would like to do business through Hongkong traders or Taiwaneses; while now they prefer to deal directly with factories. John, an American business man, has worked with China factories for more than 20 year. He said when he first time came to China, he was arranged to take motorcycle to factory; holding 2 heavy boxes in both hands, he was scared during 1 hour driving. The most embarrassed thing was, every conversation depended on the only translator. Now he is feeling comfortable with nice car transportation, also good English communication even the little kid could say "hello" to him in the airport.
