Don't Let Sympathy Destroy Our Class

Hot 2891 views. 2013-4-17 23:07 |Individual Classification:original| education

Yesterday evening before going to younger brother’s apartment for dinner, I received a text message from Xu Yi Da’s mother, a newly divorced woman who now lives alone and deserves a lot of pity and sympathy. His son was recently sent away home by me for his violently attacking me and being rude. The message said: she feels she has no courage and face to call me; she tried several times to call me but finally gave up the idea considering the serious error that her son had committed. The message was in a self-humiliated and entreating tone, begging me to show mercy to the mother and son, and to forgive her son for his wrongdoings. Her son is not a good boy with unwelcome qualities and bad behaviours. He ever resorted to violence and actively attacked me in public before all the students. The cause was that I was criticizing him and trying to have him standing a longer time as an added punishment for his not good behaviors while he was going through a “standing punishment”. Who am I to be attacked? I am his head teacher, the one in charge of and is fully responsible for the whole class. Anything concerning class affairs is within my power. He dares to attack me, and this shows nothing in this class is of his fear; and no disciplines or regulations are restrictive or effective over him; he thinks he is the God of fear-nothing. I am the kind of man who hates evils to its extremity.

Her mother said in the message that she was worried that her son might be a scourge once dropping out of school. However, if he was allowed to continue to remain in our class, then our class would become a hell.

A teacher has to assume a lot of responsibilities these days. He has to exert reasonable authority and yet have to be lively and soft to be able to teach effectively. In every class there are problem students. Nowadays some students are intimidating, taller and stronger than the teachers. It is not easy to control them.

When a troublesome student becomes intolerable, there is no choice but to suspend him. You did the right thing.

To be able to rehabilitate a student you may have to start from his home and family.

We can see that teaching is not an easy task. Hope you have the patience and determination to handle it.

Because he is a bad boy, you should give up him? The teacher should be education and guide their children, not to give up the child. This is my idea.
