Boys and girls, ladies and gentlemen, good afternoon!

Today is September 28, 2013, a very special and meaningful day for everybody here to remember, because on this day we are having a big get-together to start our long-awaited 3rd English Festival. I am very pleased to be here as one of your guests, and I feel it a great honor to be together with you on this grand and spectacular Day!

Dear students, ladies and gentlemen! We are now living in a time called globalization, when the economy and culture are developing globally, when the world itself is becoming a much smaller place; we are living in a country that is opening her friendly arms and is embracing the world. We have more frequent international communications than ever before. English, as an international language, is playing an irreplaceable role in these activities. Its importance is increasing with each passing day. So, I hope, my dear students, you will feel dear to English, fall into love with English, learn English well and be an international citizen!

I have ever worked as a teacher of English. I know it’s not easy to learn English well. Cultural differences between the east and west, and the lack of a good English environment made a lot of students feel English is so hard to learn. However, I want to tell you, my students, English is, in fact, very interesting, very easy to conquer and even to master once you have fallen love into it. I know your school ever created and is creating as many chances as possible for you to learn English. You have so many activities to take part in, English Talent Competition, Writing Newspaper Competition, English Level Test and etc. All these activities will make you more interested in and more enthusiastic about English. Also, they will make you feel English everywhere around you, and you will gradually find you are enjoying learning English.

It is my expectation that every participant, whether you are a student or a teacher, will let me see who you are in this activity. Also I am expecting to see what inspirations and pleasant surprise you students will bring to us! I hope to see, through this activity, students will take root into their English study, and your honored school will harvest the improvement of your teaching quality.

Here, please allow me to represent the Teaching Research Office of Changle Educational Commission to say thank you to all the school heads and teachers who gave so much in organizing this great activity. Thank you for bringing to our students such a good platform. Meanwhile, I sincerely hope all the students will grasp and cherish and make good use of this great opportunity to swim and grow freely in the sea of English. Enjoy your beautiful time, my students!
