the BEC-Higher

When hearing a friend of mine will sign up to take the BEC-Higher , and she let me have a try with her , which makes me puzzled a lot . I know clearly that the advantage of it would help me a lot if I get it when searching for my job , but I have already received a BEC-Vantage certificate last year .Don't know is it would be better if I have the higher one .
Maybe , you would believe that a certificate is not critical for a job but your real ability on all sides . Anyway , I think I can gain a lot during the process of my preparation for it . However , I am not sure to have plenty of pleasure time to make it . and once I start it , It will mean a painstaking travel waiting for me . Really be confused about it .

- I think you are referring to Business English Certificate qualifications. I myself, is an entrepreneur and I established my own business few years ago, so I can comment on this.
Allow me to tell you that not all formal qualifications are necessary. I don't think an employer would attach much value to advanced BEC, therefore, even if you have that certificate, it does not mean you would have priority. Actually, good written English is important because you are dealing with overseas customers, but it is not really necessary to be good in Business English. Formality is not that important in modern business. You would learn proper business language as you work. That is how I did it too.
What is important is your ability to understand and service customers. You need to have good organizing and administrative abilities.
I would suggest you use your time in other more useful skills.

- A basic BEC Cert. is enough ; if you have so much time, better learn one or two more foreign languages or computing skills. Sending out an application letter written in two or three different languages ( which is what I did) , say in Spanish , Japanese and English ,will enable you to get a job interview; and, unless you are as ugly as a duckling, likely you can get the job ...

- If give me two optional items,certification and ability . Only choose one , I prefer to the later.
If I have lot of idle time , I don't know how to kill it,To get many certification is not bad. Someday these can prove that I have ever been here.

- Sorry , I don't think so . And I don't know why I will get troubles if I meet a female personnel manager . If they pay more attention to one's appearance , and I also believe such company is not worth me take a look at her eyes once again at all . Anyway , I am not as ugly as a ducking , and also disdain someone who puts appearance at the first place .
