It has been one year since I started doing experiments. Looking back on the experience in the laboratory, it has taught me more than itself.

  Last year, when I met the choices of majors, I hesitated whether or not choosing medicine chemistry because of the saying that medicine chemistry one day will affect women's ability of giving birth to a baby. However, on one hand, medicine chemistry was the most favorite among the fields related to medicine, on the other hand, I had already promised a professor I adored that I would join him. At that time, I was fairly torn. Eventually, I decided not to worry about the side effects that there was a big chance would not happen. I do remember how much then I was that into it and craved for the successes on my subject. I was full of passion and wanted to prove something to myself.

The second I entered into the laboratory, I started my own subject ignoring the fact that juniors should start from helping with seniors' subjects. Fortunately, I am familiar and get on well with all the staffs in this laboratory. In the process of exploring experiments, they do me a huge favor about how to do it and what to do or something.

Medicine synthesis is a little different from the other experiments, the products are so various as time goes. Sometimes, you should operate it quickly, but sometimes you should be patient enough to wait for several days to get the desirable substances. To an inpatient person like me, it is hard at the beginning of synthesizing target products especially when I need to wait for a whole day without knowing it is the target product. Many times when it is nearly at midnight, the results fails me and I must drag my body to dormitory desperately, doubtful about the meaning of spending my best time on it especially when I get the wedding news of my college students. Then one day after I had given shots for about more than one month, it suddenly came out in the way I almost missed it. A substance I never thought it should be, but it was. Life is magic, so is experiment.

Gradually, I get to know I must be more patient and should get distracted by some hobbies, otherwise I can't deal with the failure coming from the experiment if I put all myself into it. At that point I start to know that I should not mix work with life. Just people said we work in order to live and being happy and not live in order to work. I must remember this and in the meanwhile don't give up working hard. Life is always first!
