Plunder in E-mart

Hot 2691 views. 2014-12-30 10:39 | everything, situation, products, checkout, employee

Having heard E-mart is quitting Chinese market, we decided to take a look. So we went to a nearby E-mart last Sunday and was stunned by the situation there: nothing left on the shelves but empty bottles and half-eaten snacks, a lot of people gathered around the checkout counter, once in a while the supermarket employee would bring several boxes of food, everyone immediately swarmed to the boxes and catch everything they can grab. Then we asked the employee and knew that all the products are in 80% discount, so whether you need it or not, if you catch, you earn. Of course we also grabbed something, but the checkout line was so long and  we don't have that much time, so we gave up.

You know, similar things happens in the big cities of USA too. People would drive their car to a supermarket where there is a sale. They would use $10 petrol to get $8 discount. That means they lost $2 but they are happy to get that discount.

Another Korean retail giant Lotte Mart in China is struggling. Meanwhile, Lotus from Thailand has still not turned its Chinese business around after a series of reforms.

Usually we just do not need those items on shelves till we realized the moment after several days later most of those things are still kept intact. While we mostly can not control the desire for discount.
