After studying the article "Face to face with Hurricane Camile",I am deeply moved by the heroic struggle of the Koshaks and their friends against the forces of a devasting hurricane. When human being are confronted with some unexpected natural disasters, we may be helpless and lack of power. But just as the saying goes "Everything is possible", as long as we don't compromise and give in, we can get through the disasters no matter how terrible they are.
The article tells that on August 17,hurricane Camile hit the place where the Koshaks lived, which made his family in risk. Having consulting with his parents and friend. John Koshaks tended to pull through this difficulty by all means in spite of its powerful destructiveness. When the water approached step by step, they kept an optimistic attitude and calmed down. Although they may be unable to do anything to fight Camile, they seized every opportunity for survival. Fortunately, they came through it despite great loss of possession. As far as I am concerned, life is more important than anything else. So no matter what we lost in disaster, we ought to feel lucky to survive.
Honestly speaking, the hurricane Camile reminds me of a natural disaster that I once experienced. Although it is less frightening than Hurricane Camile, it gave me a deep impression. As we all know, the storms that occur in the northwest Pacific Ocean west of the International Date line are called typhoons. That is what I experienced. I remembered it was summer holiday, a good time for us students to do some part-time jobs, which came at a time when I worked for a company. During off hours, I came across typhoon unexpectedly on my way home. As a matter of fact, I haven't paid more attention to the weather forecast at that time though sometimes it's inaccurate. At that moment, I felt so scare that I had no idea whether I should continue moving or not. Meanwhile rain fell steadily and heavily, which blocked my way home. Standing on the road side, I felt frightened. Suddenly, a sense of fear that I may be blown away by typhoon rose my mind. The cars on the road past fast, leaving the raindrop on the ground. I wiped the raindrop on my face and tried to find a way to get through it. I calmed down and stood still instead of moving on. Gradually, the rain and wind slightly diminished. I felt so fortunate that I was determined to go home immediately. In the end, I returned home with safety.
Everything may happen in our life. No matter how horrible the disaster is, we should keep a sober attitude and never give up. Nothing is more important than our lives. As long as we are full of the hope for survival, we can get through the difficulties.
