New challenge

Hot 4613 views. 2015-8-31 22:17 | challenge, Recently, becoming, because, already

Recently, the feeling was becoming more and more strong what exactly I will do in the future because I already felt the style of working was no longer suit for what I really wanted from the bottom of heart. I was eager to make a change, meanwhile, I feared the change would bring me the effect that I couldn’t afford. After all, you didn’t make the whole family running well without money support. Think twice before your action was a real picture of my real life. In other words, I should consider all kinds of factor before I made any decision, because I am not alone, I have a family to support. What’s more, along with the growth of the age, the loads on our shoulders will become heavier, especially, as the leader of the family, it is the responsibility and accountability.
The current situation seemed that I graduated from college ten years ago. Now, it occurs to me again, as I am going to stand at the crossroad of life, relying on my own accumulated valuable. Could I make a right choice?

Sorry to say that your situation is a bit worrying. As a young family man and the breadwinner, the salary from your job is everything. The quality of life, family relations, child's future, living conditions and happiness are all affected and dependent on your income. A heavy responsibility of your shoulders. You are a sensible, calculated, responsible person with high self-esteem and care for your family. All this makes it  difficult for you to take risks for change of job. It would be easy if you are a single man who can just drop everything and take risks, but you have family commitments, so you cannot make impulsive decisions.

You must be feeling tired, disappointed and worried. My sympathies for you and I can say, it is not your fault. I have been through all these agony and anxiety, so I understand your position. There are always more disappointments than satisfaction in the path of our career. All you were doing was to struggle for the best future for your family and things did not turn out as good as you expected.

Now with an undesirable job and heavy family responsibilities on your shoulders, what to do? I have to advise you to be cautious. The situation out there is not good at all. Most of the factories I have gone to are struggling to go on, orders dropped by about 25%. Trouble is on the horizon. Now is not the time to change. Yours present company is large and they have sufficient resources to survive any depression and you are protected from any downturn of business. They can survive the economic storm and accordingly, you are protected too. You may have some savings in the bank which might enable you to stay afloat for a while, but that money is for emergencies only and not for risking.

What you should do now is to take a wait and see approach. Keep calm and a clear mind. A new job is never guaranteed to be better than the present one. Lookout for any good job opportunities but don't jump onto anything unless you have considered carefully.

Still a problem of “to be or not to be”. From my point of view, you should consider carefully before making the decision, after all, you have a family to support and you need to take care of your parents, and even your wife's parents. Firstly, if you are just tired of the working environment, not the position itself, you'd better not change, because even you come into a new environment, with time goes by, the freshness will also perish. In this case, you only need to adjust you work attitude and learn more to make yourself much more excellent. Secondly, if you like neither the position nor the environment, you still have to consider if you have the ability and skills to be qualified for another position in a new industry or just a new company. You must know clearly that even if you have the qualification, for you, everything should be done from the very start, and just as you have concerned, you might not get sufficient money to support your family.

I used to try to enter a new profession, but it proved to be a failure. Even though I worked very hard, I must admit that I have no tallent to do that job. So, I went back to my strong field. Of course, from the very beginning, my pay also returned to the ratio two years ago. But now, I am not confused, and I will not easily give up in spite of so many problems and annoying things. For I konw, sometimes, changing cannot solve the problems, the most important is how you deal with them and what your attitude of mind is.

I share the same problem with you too, but the difference between us is that I am a freshman and you own a working experience of 10 years. I was eager to make a change before because I was too fragile and thought that I deserved the better. But that was not the case. If I could not survive in this company, then I too would not live well in another company no matter how good I am thinking of the new company in the beginning. Just as what carolyayayaya said, the freshness would vanish once you have learned more about this company and again you had to adapt yourself to the new position. Then you would feel much more exhaustive because you would think why I could not still find a job that suits me 100%? So now I still live on in this company and see how it goes. But in your situation, I think I should not analyze too much because you have been in the same company for 10 years. To be true, I would certainly make a shift if I have stayed in a company for so long. But to some extent, I think it should depend on your knowledge and your experience. If you work in a company with simple job and fixed payment, then it will be difficult to make a change because 10 years working in a same  company will make you disjoint with the society. But if you work in a company with high technologies or new developments, I think you then have to consider other factors: your love for the company, your payment and the level of your resolution to leave etc. There are many factors you have to consider. Think in depth and make a smart decision!
