Not good result from A unsuccessful audit

Hot 3641 views. 2015-12-10 23:14 | leadership, management, yesterday, customers, because

It’s already eight o’clock when my boss still shouted at all of us, the reason why he did that is because he was blamed lacking enough leadership publicly during the management meeting. All things derived from the complaints one of customers audit yesterday. The customer seemed not happy with our performance, but, unfortunately, the biggest boss of our company paid more attention to this customer. So my boss became the target suffering a lot from his boss. In order to let his grievance off, he expressed his dissatisfaction to us. Meanwhile, as subordinates just keep quiet and occasionally along with his words as response. Because we both knew most of his words didn’t work when he left the meeting, it’s not saying that we lacked executive fore, just some of his said didn’t form a final result and it’s hard to continue to follow up. That’s why we felt tired working with him sometimes.
But, on the other hand, expecting his ability of leadership,my boss is not a bad man even could make friend with him.

Actually, most other manufacturers or companies don't give too much attention to these customer's audits because there are conflicts of interest and does not help much in improving customer satisfaction. Customers  use these audits to their own advantage and the local management would fall into this trap stressing the employee/management relationships.

Our suppliers use modern and effective methods to ensure customer satisfaction. Some suppliers appoint customer relation officers to attend to customers, pinpoint problems instantly, rectify and resolve those problems instead of waiting for a main audit.

You do not have to be too concerned about this audit as it is not your fault. Your boss also knows in the back of his mind that you are not part of the problem. Perhaps the management should update and enhance their management techniques.

As for making friends with your boss, this is risky territory as he can hold you sky high or throw you to down to hell. On the other hand, it may be possible that he value your work ability and capability which could be your chance for career advancement. Anyway, Look before you leap. Good luck my friend.

you understand wrongly about the writer saying"could make friend with boss", in our chinese, that means just ordinary friend which means more saying hello and goodbye, but never relate to any thing reflects job.

i understand what the situation you are in, it is just company procedure problem or machanism problem. I think you boss and your big boss also know the problem which they both neglected so after release, maybe they will make up the procedure. Boss for me, just a person giving greetings and get down to your job to explain clearly what you can do and can not do in front of him.

No. I may be mistaken, but I know about Chinese mentality, culture and customs better than most Chinese people, otherwise, I would not be able to communicate so meaningfully with all our friends here at Dioenglish. My whole life is centered around Chinese culture and customs. Most of my friends are Chinese and they have have never doubted my Chinese connection. I also have the added advantage of knowledge of western culture.

That is more than hello and goodbye. He could have personal conversations with his boss. I have never said there is any relation to job advantage. No boss would become an ordinary friend with you if he don't value you. You have to have something which the boss value before he would give you some attention. A boss is normally stern and 'do as I say' type of person. Being friendly with your boss could make your job more worthwhile and interesting. How far that friendliness goes is another thing. He is not trying to get advantage by being friendly with his boss, but he feels his boss can talk to him as a friend. He is a clever and sensible person and would know how to handle his boss.

why not let the author to tell us who understand right. From the staff or subordinate view, make friend with boss that means you just communicate with him for daily trival things but never job or business serious thing. From boss view, he just first value your performance then think you are worthy his attention or friendship. That is different understanding aspect.

sunnyv is right. I trust that he knows well the traditional culture. And what I want to say is that all of those problems we can meet in a company. And a job is a job and workmates are usually just mates. That is the difference from friends. So we need to be more precautious when it comes to office.

Oh then perhaps the Chinese community here in my city is even more Chinese than yours. We have two distinct types. One are those who are polite and attentive to the boss like any other normal employee. The second type are those shoe-shine type (and plenty of these people here) who try to be friendly to the boss, pampering him, make him happy, care about his personal things and be friendly to him. These shoe-shine people are popular in the office, got lots of information about the boss and would let other staff know about the boss opinion. So you can't say that nobody becomes friends with the boss on job related interest. Some girls even involve in intimate relations with the boss for job benefit. It is quite common.
