Busy Monday

Today I was very busy. I got up at 6:20, took a shower , got dressed and went to have breakfast in the dining hall at 7:00. After that, I went to my office and was surprised to find the lights still on. Later the classroom building keeper told me that the office had been open until he got back from his hometown yesterday. I felt sorry for that because last Friday I left early and didn’t tell the other office workers to close the door.
At 7:30, I began to help students read English in the classroom. At 7:50, the music for the flag-raising ceremony sounded around the campus, all students and teachers came to the playground and watched the ceremony.
At 8:50, I had the first class. In Period 3, I watched students do exercises. In Periods 4-5, I checked students’ homework. At noon, I attended a meeting with all the head teachers in the grade. After that I went home and had a nap.
In the afternoon I did some office work, finding some pictures for the show board, getting ready for the next class and so on. From 5:40 to 6:10, I taught two students to read new words.
I arrived home at 6:20. After a simple supper, I drove to the forest park and took a walk. When I got home, it was already 9:30 p.m.

- Seems you have quite a well occupied day. Your work hours are quite long compared to teachers elsewhere. Here in my city teachers start work at 8am and finish at 4pm or latest 6pm. Recently teachers have added responsibilities of helping students with special needs.

- In our school morning reading begins at 7:10. we have 5 classes in the morning, which means if you have a fifth period, you'll have lunch at about 12 o'clock. in the afternoon there are 4 more classes. and we have to come again to oversee students in the evening self study period, which lasts until 21: 50.

- Some teachers in my school can come later and leave earlier. As for head teachers and teachers of Chinese, maths and English, their work time usually exceeds 8 hours.

- in our school, there are some classes of students who live in the school. So teachers of these classes may work till 8:30 in the evening, usually one day a week.
