March to May,2008

In March,2008,my school authority announced the document of Chongqing Foreign Affairs’No.9 [2008],Chongqing Municipality Education Committee relayed by Fuling District Education Notice of Committee Chongqing Municipality Education Committee On Selecting Volunteer Teachers of Chinese to Thailand, Indonesia and  the Philippines. Notice said that ,to meet the requirements of Thailand, Indonesia and the Philippines,China National Office of Chinese International Language Council (Hanban) will continue to send volunteer teachers of Chinese. Entrusted by Hanban, Chongqing Municipality Education Committee will select 18 qualified excellent teachers or students to teach Chinese in Indonesia. The Mandarin Level of the applicants must be above Grade A of Level Two (or equal to) with CET-4 or above, or the ability of communication in related country.

To answer the call of the Education Committees of Municipality and District, CMK and I actively apply. The School and District Education Committee agreed to our applications and the Municipality Education Committee determined us to be the training targets after examination.

I still remember when Mr Xu from the Foreign Affairs Department of Chongqing Municipality Education Committee called me to ask whether I would like to join in the training, I hesitated. Because it was not long after the Wenchuan Earthquake and Indonesia leaves me an impression of a country with many volcano hits and anti-Chinese possibilities.

Later, after CMK’s persuasion , I reluctantly agreed. We both thought if we don’t want to go in the end, we won’t go.
