Recollections 11: Go-anywhere Vehicle 越野车

Go-anywhere Vehicle
There used to be in my bedroom a go-anywhere vehicle, which was half the bulk of my five-year-old body and was at that time so highly advanced as to be remote-controlled. However, for the later years, which was the most part of what I can recall about the toy car's existence, it stayed quietly at an altitude on a book cabinet, with its going automatically a broken ability. I was once reminded a few days before my father's death that, at a heavy price, this plaything was bought for me for fear that I would envy, when my elder cousin had been sent a same one for his tenth birthday. By intensively reaching back I saw, as if emerging, that my father was handling the controller, while after a big-wheeled thing a kiddie chased all around the house.

我的卧室里曾有一辆越野车，有我五岁身体的一半大，而且在那个时候它算十分的高科技，还可以遥控。然而，在后来的几年里，也是我所能回忆起的这辆玩具车存在的时光的大部分，它都是安静地高高地待在一个书柜上，自动行进的能力已经坏掉。我曾在爸爸去世的前几天被人提起，这个玩物是花了不少代价，以免我嫉妒所以为我买的，因为我的表哥在他十岁生日的时候被赠送过一辆一模一样的车。在仔细的回忆中，就像浮现起来一样，我看见我的爸爸手持着遥控器，而在一个大轮子的东西后面，一个孩子满屋子地追赶个不停。

- I also had one of those toy cars but even a bigger one which I could sit in and drive around the living room. Costs a quarter of my dad's monthly salary. My dad knows I wanted it dearly and he thought about it for some time because of the cost and eventually gave me the money to buy it. He himself is quite frugal in his own spending. It is through these toys and gifts that we realize later how much our parents loved us.
