I have joined our subtitle translation groups for three years. I still remember how exciting I was when I got the reply and be informed that I have passed their test. Before join the group, I thought the translation of movie is just a piece of cake, because movie capition is consist of many indie sentences. The work may no harder than article or drama translation. But later, my mind was turned out wrong.

       My first movie has more than 1,700 lines and it takes me ten days to finished. After that, I realized my points of view on movie translation are all wet. It does not like to translate independent sentence, you cannot overlook plots and context or you will be lost, because a movie is a complete story , it needs capition to link up all actions. Sometimes, you need to spend hours to understand two or one sentence even. So, in fact, translation is a boring work beyond your imagination. You have to watch the same movie again and again, to find out the hidden meaning, to fathom the figures' mind, to choose a fitting tone, etc.You're required to miss no detail for a superior subtitle is an important part of a fabulous movie. Of course, pains and gains, you could learn many things from this work. For instance, your skills on listening and writing, addition on knowledge of foriegn cultures, your improvement on patience, strength growth on responsibility, your ability on teamwork and so on.
