Love Creates a Happy Life

—reflection from Little House in the Big Woods

I want to say it is a warming novel, relating to kinship. I am deeply touched by the emotion among the families. At the same time, I learn that happiness does not matter with money but is created by love that people express to others.

The Laura’s lived a hard life. They lived in the Big Woods; there were only trees and wild animals rounding their home. The father hunted for quarries to trade stuffs to support the whole family’s daily pay expenses. Their surrounding was filled with danger, and their living standard was also not good. However, to be honest, their spiritual life was rich, they were happy.

The tired out father told stories to his daughters after finishing the hunting in the deep woods. The daughters leaned closely to father’s feet, listened carefully. It was a beatific scene. Mother sewed worn clothes for father under the dim light. It was a moving scene. The wrangle between the two sisters showed that sisterhood should be cherished by us. The trip to the town reflected the family’s happy life to us……

In addition to admire the family, I conceive another idea: Why do they feel happy in the terrible life condition? The father went hunting in the woods, in fact, he was risking his life to support the whole family. He was in danger all the time! The families couldn’t eat delicious food. The children had no chance to broaden their horizon. But they were optimistic to life. I want to put it this way: for life, happiness is very important. The life which is full of money is not real, because money will certainly be used out one day. Only the inner satisfaction about life will last until you go to the heaven. Kindness or concern among people is the source of this satisfaction. So, please cherish the people around you and show your concern to them anytime, you are bound to gain other people’s feedback.

Loving other people, loving yourself, then, you will live a happy life!
