Tomb-Sweeping Day

Hot 11345 views. 2016-3-31 09:16

Tomb-Sweeping Day is holding the memorial ceremony for the people has passed away. The family people would buy a graveyard for him/her with lettering all the family names who are giving and date of the away, some of them attached the portrait of a dead person, if a half passed away first, there will be remain for other half into the same hole on the gravestone. According to the Feng Shui, the most of families would like to buy the cemetery near the mountain or the river, where must be in the suburbs or the countryside.

The day of each year, the people would go gathering to the place to clean the dust and sent some foods and fruits, the fresh flowers such as Chrysanthemum which is only for dead people, burning the paper for the dead people, the paper is money in their world, so just sent some money to them as much as they can, hopefully they have a good future. Even I never believe the superstition in my life, but Chinese people carry out this tradition, burning money, sweeping the area around the tomb, laying out wreaths which I all can accept and follows.

There are some of people Tomb sweeping on line, it is also quite popular in this years, they don’t have much time to there personally, avoid the traffic jam, they are on line do the same thing would be great ok. No matter what’s kind of ways you use, just show your loves, and sacrifice.

Remembered at the last year of this day, I drove with my family with heavily traffic jam for my mother in law. So this year, we have a nice plan in advance, find a working day avoid the weekend, change other way and go out early, as long as before Apr 5th at the right day would be ok.

Tomb Sweeping or Qing Ming is one of the major events of the year. We call it Remembrance Day. The cemeteries are filled with people with offerings for their departed ones. I think it is a good idea to have husband and wife to be buried in the same tomb. It is comforting to see young and old tidying the ancestral graves and paying respects.

Unfortunately, our city is small and all the cemeteries have been full years ago and no further spaces are available. Those private spaces are so expensive that most people can't afford it. It is such a disgrace that people cannot afford a home alive and can't afford a burial place either. People either  choose cremation or bury far away in other province or country.
