A Story About The Guy Who Never Quits--written by Oskar Nowik

Hot 2703 views. 2016-4-22 10:27 | happiness, fulfilling life, powerful

HI, everyone, here is an interesting article i highly recommended --written by Oskar Nowik

Let me tell you a story...

There’s a man who lives an incredibly fulfilling life. The reason for the abundance of satisfaction isn’t a private yacht full of hot women or an inherited fortune which guarantees financial excess for the next three generations. The source is absolutely not material. What leads to his happiness is the integrity. He’s a man of action and, as the title suggests, he never quits.

Imagine that you wake up in the morning and head straight to the tasks that you’ve promised yourself to do the night before. You put your shoes on and get out to have a 30-minute run. You then go back home to take a cold shower which helps to recover after the training and polishes your self-discipline. What comes next is a round of meditation to put the distractions in the shade and focus on the things you’ll accomplish today.

This perfect morning routine prepares you to conquer the day according to your plan. As a person of integrity, you no longer have to worry about completing the tasks from your to-do list. The day flows and you keep doing things you’ll be proud of at the end of it. Nothing goes to waste because you’re aware of your goals and the path to reach them is clear.

When the world interferes…

In today’s world, the distractions are everywhere and that’s completely out of your control. What you can influence, however, is how you react once they try to win you over. Some would say that productive people, which our hero definitely is, don’t notice distractions. But this would be misleading because, in reality, they’re fully attentive. This is why they manage not to get lost in the world that steals your attention brutally. You need to know your enemy to defeat him.

The time goes by and our main character, let’s call him Mark, grows both mentally and physically. His life is filled with meaningful activities and he finds incredible satisfaction in performing them. He trains on a daily basis, he meditates, reads and writes and inspires the world around. Mark is an uncommonly powerful man.

Not because of the connections he’ll develop as a leading example or the wealth he’ll eventually create because of his dedication and commitment. The real power lies in his integrity. His thoughts and actions are inseparable. It’s the key to win at life. The external factors don’t count. All that matters is being fully in control of yourself.

“To win at anything, we must first win control over our minds.”
Mark Divine, The Way of the SEAL

At first glance, Mark seems special. His greatness, the ability to achieve his goals and the perseverance separate him from the crowd. People lost in bad habits and extreme procrastinators watch him, feeling jealous and awestruck.

But if you knew Mark personally and for a long time, you’d know he’s just like everyone else. He’s not talented but simply committed, disciplined and persistent. These are the three ingredients for the so-called “overnight” success, which in reality, is a result of a lifestyle.

And now, when this short story is over, one question remains unanswered. What’s stopping you from implementing Mark’s rules to your own life? What are the barriers you’ve created in your mind that make you doubt your abilities, fear the unknown and waste your time procrastinating?

This is what you really want

Let me tell you the truth. You can become the person of integrity and that’s what we all actually want. To be able to set a goal, prepare the strategy to reach it and then proceed to take action, day after day until you arrive at the finish line. To think about your dream lifestyle, figure out the way to create it and then begin getting closer to it. To finally stop quitting and start doing.

The results of such a switch are wonderful and you’re aware of them. The problem is, you didn’t realize how great your life would be once you choose the long-term pleasure over instant gratification and focus on becoming the person you always wanted to. Just like Mark did and just like you can do…

Have a great day!

Hmm... that is the benefit of having constructive friends here. Once in a while we would see some meaningful articles and this is one of them.

I myself have already gone through hell few years ago when I left my job and started our own business venture. It was really hard working alone 18 hours a day, 7 days a week, lacking financial support and learnt about business as I go. It wasn't easy and I could have easily failed if I did not give my full attention to the venture.

I suppose I have already followed the above said rules of being ''simply committed, disciplined and persistent''. Had I not followed these rule and sacrificed so much, I would remain a lifelong employee for some enslaving boss. I have already achieved financial independence and satisfaction in life. I have more or less tried and seen all the things I need to see or experience and just hope life would be peaceful and smooth.

To those who are now struggling to succeed in life, I have to say that life is never easy. There are no shortcuts to true success. To succeed, you would first need to follow the basic rules like the  above mentioned .. committed, disciplined and persistent''.

Life is not that easy, this is what I think. You've done well and experienced sufficient bitters and sweets, now you have swum across the huge waves and vast ocean and arrived at the shore to rest up for enjoying life freely. Though sometimes it does have some others to bother or influence about what the future would be like. That is another thing. You know, when we are free to sit down and think over life, it could be leisureable and nice to be the moment as philosophic emjoyment.

When I am free, I just go out for physical exercises. Whatever it is in winter or summer. Even cold in a winter morning on weekend, I went to do that, felt good though there were few people on the playground.

Since work has occupied much of my time, so now I run for a while almost every night about forty minutes. It will be longer I do that on weekends, like one and half hour by covering around 15 km per single jogging.

Later I found myself not that weak any more, physically and meantally, becoming stronger and more energetic. This is really helpful at my work which supports me to cope with kinds of challenges and feel no problem about having all of them done.

Another thing is meditation which I do that some time, it turns out to be workable. After closing eyes, everything goes to be quiet and I can manage to cool off mind. I feel refreshed by doing that. Usually it is about tewnty minutes. I can choose and try doing longer later.

The cold running bathing after running back home is my favourite. People say that I am crazy, particularly, in witner, I enjoy that challenge. It is cold at the very first beginning, and all of a sudden, those tiredness and exhuasted mind are all gone, not feel cold anymore. The cold water heats skin and stiumlates bloold circulation, so I sense myself warm.

We were all born to be laziness, on some level. Who wants to do that long distance jogging or challenge for hard tasks? While those who can take them, they are great people who finally succeed. While this kind of gorup of people are only a small portion compared to the large population.

So I often think the differnce between those successful man and ordinary or common ones are only a gap of that persistence. Whenever I think of this, I continue and focus on the work, never have time missed. The brief life does not give us too much time to dawdle away.

Thanks for sharing, never give up.

Whether we need physical exercise depends on the type of work we involved in. Surely, a laborer or farmer would not need exercise because his work itself is exercise. Most of us are sedentary or are involved in work that don't have body movements. Our body consists of organs, veins and a massive circulatory system and blood cannot circulate properly on it's own. It needs our constant and strong body movements to help circulate blood, replenish nutrition supplies and strengthen our muscles. When you look at a person, you could tell whether he is a physically active person. Those who don't do much exercise are usually pale and appear tired and fatigued.

As for taking bath in cold water. Back in UK, we call that cold therapy, they even recommend ice bath for professional athletes. It is not for everybody. If one can tolerate a cold bath in winter without negative effects, will indicate that the person  is healthy has a strong immune system. If you can tolerate it, then by all means do it.

You suggested meditation, so as I was writing this, I closed my eyes in mediation for 5 minutes. It was dark but I felt my eyes and brain relaxed. When I opened my eyes again, I feel good and fresh. It is different from sleep. Meditation is simple and recommended for everyone.

When we can balance our work productivity, exercise, health, peace of mind and good relationship with friends and family, then we are already living well. The rest are bonuses.

Yes, we sometimes should sit down and think over our life. I would certainly not have that kind of confidence and self content if I did not experience those difficult days. Without those testing times days, I would not be able to say to myself that I am not afraid of any challenges as I have gone through hell and came back alive. Do not be afraid of challenges. Failure would only make you stronger. So long as you do not give up, you would reach your desired destination eventually.

Yes, Sunnyv:
The same as you, actually I spent 17 hours a day in the past 20 years, self-taught English, Raising my daughter, doing housework, working…I was very struggled about the limited time. I didn’t have one minute free to pursue my hobby, until now I am quite relaxing as my daughter has grown up. I have “me” time, to do whatever I like.

Just One thing, I was better than you, I didn’t need worry too much about my financial thing.

Thanks Teadrinking for your long comments.

You are brilliant!!! Yes, as office workers, we are supposed to walk at least 30 minutes per day. And you are doing more than that, well done!!! Actually, I run and jogged 2 hours today. I didn't feel very tired, at least I can still writing. You are sooo brave as I have never tried cold running bathing.

That’s for sure, persistence is most important element for achieving what you dream. If I didn’t study English on a regular basis, I would not have been in Australia today.
