Hot 3|
It was last Saturday, at the end of one salsa song, someone’s talking to us: “Hello, everyone, please come here, we have performances for you tonight, and guess what? You’d better wash your hands 3 times.” I was wondering “what’s the matter with dance and hands washing”. “We’ll bring you Pilipino traditional food tonight.” “Wow, I can’t help having a look at it.”
After the performances, I saw one guy was putting all the bamboo leaves over a very long table. I am always fascinated about bamboo thing actually. I walked close by—I looked at that guy, who was spreading the rice on the top of the leaves, which excited me. I took out the Iphone immediately. Wow, some girls were bringing dishes from the kitchen. People are gathering around the table with no space left. At that moment, everybody started taking pictures while the guy was adding huge containers of chickens, sausages, hams, veggie noodles, glass noodles etc all over the rice. “Hey, could you please write down the name of the dish on my mobile please?” I asked the guy. “Sure thing, that is Boodle Fight.” “That’s fascinating, I have never heard about that, thank you for telling me”
“Hey, guys, have you washed your hands?” The organizer came in,” We Filipinos don’t use forks, chop sticks, knives, plates. You can only use your hands.”
“Cool” “Ok, let’s start.” All the girls and guys were grabbing chickens, hams, noodles, rice with their hands. “Keep moving forward, keep moving forward, guys.”
I looked around, apparently, there were still half people out of the queue, who were having Potluck, a kind of shared food, which were home-made prepared by everyone. Isn’t that a feast, can’t believe it!! Cakes are absolutely better than the one I bought, tiny cute biscuits which were freshly baked from the oven, Malaysian curry chickens, Korean BBQ, Chinese dumplings and fried rice, Japanese sushi, Italian pizza, spaghetti and ,lasagna, a large plate of Australian charcoal chicken and bacon, Greek dips, English muffins, Indian curry beef, a large plate of cheese, green leaves salad, sandwiches, cheesecakes, puddings, fruits, there were much much more, I simply can’t name all of them.
That’s the amazing part I enjoy living in Melbourne, a multi-cultural city brings nice food from all over the world.
