Do We Need “Never give up”?

There are plenty of sentences in the world that function for motivating human being. , and "never give up" is one of those inspiring words. We have listened to it thousands of times and get touched. Then we try to deal with things according to that code. As for as I'm concerned, we do need to not give up, but sometimes we'd better quit. And don't get me wrong. I am not saying being coward. It's sort of a matter of tragedy.
Lincoln, started as an ordinary shoemaker's son, ended up becoming America's president. Whatever difficulties may be waiting for him, he never gave up. That's why he succeeded. It's one of the typical examples that show the importance of never giving up. However, it does not apply to all situations. Lincoln's success also owe to his talent for politics.
All people don't strive for what they are really good at. In this case, no progress is made and the efforts are aim for nothing. Zhang wenju serve a good example. He dreamed about becoming a writer and kept constant writing over a decade. His lack of knowledge and experience didn't deserve never giving up. After a chief editor's enlightenment Zhang abandoned initial idea and changed to be a calligrapher. He made it.
Persistent is a good virtue. After all, I hope that knowing yourself fully comes before insistent, or it will turn into blind devotion. Anyway, we need to think carefully about whether giving up of insisting.

- Yeah, "never give up" is often heard to encourage people to insist. While, it is not wise to blindly insist something. For our dreams, we should firstly think if it is practical and take our own ability into consideration, then decide whether we should insist or not. Or else, our efforts would be in a vain, just because we insist at a wrong way.

- I absolutely agree with you. Like you say, we do need to not give up, but sometimes we'd better quit. We should choose the correct direction. Or else, it will act in a way that defeats our purposes.

- Sometimes we care too much one goal without realizing the rationality of the goal. Some people may even be proud of their blind persistent. I hope we can know ourselves well and insist in a right way.

- as far as i am concerned, never give up is unwise, also sometimes, it is impossible, the loyalty and filialpiety is hard to satisfy both sides, we should choose something more meaningfui to do

- I have watched a TV series months ago. There is a person who worked as a famous cartoonist's assistant. He did it for as long as twenty years becaues he wanted to be a cartoonist. Unfortunately he showed no promise of the goal. This guy was wrong at the beginning. To my relief, he finally realized it and chose another job. So we actually need to insist for the right thing.
