One day, an elder told me a story about the first world war. When Americans and Germans are in battle, a German soldier got shot during his mission. He was trapped by the iron gauze in the dead zone near the American army. Almost every American soldier could clearly hear his cry which was extremely miserable. Suddenly an American soldier crawled out of the trenches. His companions were surprised and after a while they knew what he was going to do. Both sides stopped shooting. When the American soldier sent him to his trenches, the German field commander gave the American soldier a Military Cross. After he came back, the battle went on. Sometimes, I will think what if there are no wars. What would their lives be like? In China, we had gone through lots of wars. In the feudal society, emperors declared a war just for boundless ambition of occupation. Most soldiers didn't volunteer to join battle. They are compelled by the upper class. They had no choice but to leave their parents, friends and lovers. For a soldier, that goodbye maybe was the last memory he left. Their life would have an enormous change. Because of the war, many families are disrupted. In modern history of China, the war of Resistance Against Japan made China lose heavily. They occupied our cities, killing our people. That war made China in dark for a long time. We lost our state sovereignty as well as people's minimum guarantee and nation's dignity. Peace is what we want. Only we are in peace can our country progress.
