People like to talk about the relationship between knowledge and wisdom, but they cannot talk through it. However, it does relate to our study, education, life, technology and other sides.

"Knowledge" can be explained that "people's systematic cognition of facts in the physical universe" but wisdom cannot be defined simply. For wisdom is always confused with ability and smart, even we consult all reference books, we cannot get a satisfying explanation.

Differ to others opinion; I think knowledge is a basement of wisdom. We can't image a man who is wise but ignorant. As a wise man, Zhu Geliang can use the trap of "borrowing the East wind" mostly because he is conversant with chronometer and geography. The reason why Sai Wen could have his horse again after he "lost his horse" was that he knew the habitus of his horse. As a result, Aristotle said that sometimes, wisdom is a kind of knowledge.

However, knowledge isn't absolutely equal to wisdom. An illiterate person may deal with a complex problem simply while a professor of philosophy may do something stupid on some simple problems.

Confucius said "Learning without thought means labour lost, thought without learning is perilous"; the "learning" can be known as achieving knowledge while the "thought" can be known as using knowledge and develop wisdom.

Knowledge can be occupied while wisdom only can be elaborated; knowledge can be achieved from outside while wisdom only can be sensed from inside; knowledge can be achieved more and more while wisdom can be improved higher and higher. Lao-tzu said "when we study, we should learn more and more.However, when we seek for truth, we should reduce our own subjective thoughts."

For intelligence, knowledge is divided into various subjects while wisdom is direct; knowledge is objective, coincident and logistic while wisdom is subjective, individual and creative; knowledge belongs to neither evil nor good while wisdom can be good or evil. Finally, knowledge is deduced, summarized and applied by wisdom.

Ability is a part of application of wisdom; smart can be defined as narrow sensed wisdom.

Wisdom cannot be completely summarized by words-it includes the concordance of emotion, character, conception, moral integrity, dispositions, times, terrains and other factors. And the highest realm of it is "a master looks like a fool". So, we should define the conception clearly. Artificial intelligence can only replace knowledge, ability and smart. However, it can never take the place of people's wisdom.
