At present, different educational approaches have been adopted by teaching practitioners; and encouragement is often used by teachers. People's opinions have polarized with respect to the question of whether those who outperform their peers or make progress should be rewarded. This essay will discuss one of these views which I do not agree with.
A part of the teachers always praises the best students in the class. There are many advantages rewarding best students in a class comes with clear advantages: First, it is great way to contribute to peer competition, students who are eager for praise would work harder to achieve more in academic settings. Second, praising best students is an effective way to set role models for other class attendees, these students can share with others their experience, such as making review plans. Third, for those trying to make better academic performance, rewarding the best of them can be a good motivation. In this way, students would become more self-driven, putting an end to constant parental monitoring.
To conclude, since school is aimed to make every student achieved academically, I personally think that rewarding those making progress, in spite of the extent, is a more appropriate and reasonable educational approach as this encourages each schoolchild to outcompete themselves.
