As is known to all, every culture has its own rule of behavior. These differences can be reflected in people's beliefs, religions, customs and so on. Nevertheless, misunderstandings, offense or embarrassment would happen as the results of failing to recognize cultural differences in cross-cultural communication, which decides the pace of social development. Therefore, developing a cross-cultural perspective is necessary. Here are two basic ways to handle the problem.

  In the first place, all the cultures are equal to each other without the condition where some culture is more advanced than others. We have to keep in mind that no matter how strange or different some culture seems to be, respect is always the first step to successful cross-culture communication. Understanding can be reached if we willingly treat people from other cultures as equals. In the second place, learning basic features of other cultures can help us avoid unintentional embarrassment. Reading some books with the topic of culture, or chatting with foreign friends or even surfing such information online are beyond doubt available and effective.

  As China became integrated with the international community, more and more people are involved in cultural communication in various ways. Improving our awareness of cultural differences must be taken into account for successful international communication.
