It is, in many ways, a complicated movie. There is big-budget scene and bloody murders. The story ends with cosmetic conclusions.

Yes, the movie is THE GRAND BUDAPEST HOTEL. It is a comedy film written and directed by Wes Anderson, whose films are known for their distinctive visual and narrative styles.

Well, I'd like to explain the reason why I watched this movie. Before long, I saw a video about a Chengdu girl who has opened a café full of elements from the movie The Grand Budapest Hotel. Later, I watched a live-action animated comedy film called Paddington 2 where some plots were paying tribute to The Grand Budapest Hotel. Several days ago, I read an article about The Grand Budapest Hotel so I decided to watch it ultimately.

The Grand Budapest Hotel recounts the adventures of Gustave H, a legendary concierge at a famous European hotel between the wars, and Zero Moustafa, the lobby boy who becomes his most trusted friend. The story involves the theft and recovery of a priceless Renaissance painting and the battle for an enormous family fortune. The movie affords a glimpse of a suddenly and dramatically changing Europe.

In practice, unfamiliar with European history, I still have difficulty figuring out the plot. However, this doesn't discourage me from appreciating the movie.

To begin with, Anderson's movie employs bold and exaggerating color matching, which has been regarded as an aesthetic model that many photographers could follow. For instance, the hotel is in pink hues. Never have I seen any film that is all pink. Besides, almost every scene is symmetrically composed, thus, you will love it if you have obsessive-compulsive disorder. Furthermore, the movie seems not so much a record of something that happened long ago as a window cut into the screen of the cinema showing melancholy and regret for the passing Europe.

With the peculiar eye, the social lens of the cinema, Wes Anderson films a fairy tale for adults owing to the fact that nothing is perfect in the world, providing a visual feast for viewers. Although the movie has a small target audience, it will not be superseded on account of its unique style.
