Tiny Start, Bumper Harvest

Hot 5898 views. 2017-12-2 16:45

A couple of days ago I listened to a fantastic TED speech which is themed as"Tiny Start, Bumper Harvest". What impressed me was not only the speaker's fabulous eloquence in the speech, but also a sentence she said: We could also make glorious achievements even though we start from a low basis. Then I reflected on myself, only to find that I attached little importance to tiny things before.

As college students, I firmly believe that we are required to start from the tiny things if we want to make a difference. It is particularly true that most people are disposed to overlook trivial and ordinary things because they have much more" sublime dreams". They take it for granted that tiny issues are negligible.Actually, it is not known to you that" a journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step." So it is imperative for all of us to attach more importance to tiny things. It is by no means uncommon that some people are always claiming they aspire to accomplish brilliant missions in the future, which surely deserves wide recognition, but it is wrong for those people who entertain the idea that striding forward for bigger pictures means focusing on tiny things as little as possible.

There is no denying that for those tiny things we seemingly don't have to give a hoot, we should also treat them with full energy as they are brimming with equal vigor and vitality. Take we English majors for an example, in our daily study, if we lay emphasis on the accumulation of vocabularies, then it will be more convenient to do better in technical skills. If we insist on watching American movies and imitating the native speaker's pronunciation, our oral English and listening skills will be improved gradually.

Based on the analysis above, I hold that starting from the tiny things matters too much. If we can fulfill the task form tiny things, a bumper harvest will be bound to be around the corner.

A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step,a word we have been taught from an early age. Us English majors are suitable for this word very much. Starting with tiny things such as spelling words, we can have a bumper harvest.

What you say would exactly inspire me to stick to learning English and Japanese and maybe French.I am always afraid of my persistence as I would never devote my whole heart to every study, which is definitely  wrong.I often wonder if I can learn them well but never to start with a single step. After reading your essay,I am alarmed that  I should attach to importance to every  tiny thing, and last we will know the result.

Out of question, accumulation is so important and prominent. As a proverb goes Rome was not built in a day. I truely believe this. Winner starts small. So if one ignores tiny things around himself very often, how can he reach the great achievement?

True! Tiny start, bumper harverst. Some people aim high but they are too anxious to focus on those tiny things, which are the very stepping stones to success. In retrospect, I am also too flippant to accomplish my tiny goals. Thank you for reminding me of the extremely important truth.

Yep! Only if we complete tiny things can we have firm foundation for futher proress. I was used to ignoring some details in study and just letting it go when meeting with something I didn't understand thus I made little progress at that time. Until then did I learn tiny thing cannot be ignored.

It is right that we can be ambitious and accomplish those big missions, but it is just wrong for us to neglect those tiny goals. We shoud eschew our flippant characters and realize our goals step by step.

You are right. Only we stick to some tiny details and enchance ourselves gradually can we make great progress. But it is fortunate for you to realize that you were ever flippant. You can correct it right now and I believe you can start with tiny things.

The question you came up with is really thought-provoking. As what you said, accumulation plays an important role in our life not only in study but also in many other ways. I hope both of us can start with tiny things.

We English majors should understand better in this sentence:Tiny things, bumper harvest. Listening, reading, speaking, writing and translating are five technical skills in our major and only we start with tiny things like remembering abundant vocabularies can we lay a solid foundation on our study.

That is right. If we star with tinny things, we can reap what we have sowed someday. On that day, we believe we will thank these trifles.
