It strikes me that two years have slipped past almost unnoticed since I became a freshman of NUIST. Somehow, vivid memories flash through my mind and I still remember explicitly what happened when I came to the university, frankly speaking, as if it happened yesterday.
It occurs to me that day, september 3th, was burning hot, or rather, stuffy and sweltering. I carried my suitcase which stuffed with a variety of necessities, while my parents took pieces of luggage consisted of my quilts, sheets and some other bedding with sweating heavily. To our refreshment, we met up with some volunteers who would like to accompany us and guide us to my dormitory. Every time recalling this experience, I had deep gratitude towards them as they were actually warm-hearted and patient. When I ultimately entered my dormitory which is located on the fifth floor, I was out of breath, let alone my mother. Subsequently, we commenced making the bed and tidy up my room.
After tackling this intractable undertaking, I found the nearest canteen close to my dormitory in order to have my campus card activated. The queue is exceedingly long and it goes without saying that I had to wait there for a rather tedious time. As per my observation, quite a number of freshmen were talking with their roommates or classmates to promote mutual relationship, even some jumping the line to get close to their companions. In contrast, I stood there in a detached manner and fiddled at my cell-phone. After a while it was my turn, I got my card activated and topped up, feeling refreshed but exhausted.
Up to now I think it was such an ordinary day that those memories maybe fade away as time flies. Nverthess the first day of campus life could symbolize the very beginning of a fire-new life far away from our parents. We should leave no stone unturned to become more independent, we should bear in mind that if we want to stand out in a field, no pains, no gains. Things which seem opposite maybe cause-and-effect.
