With the development of our society, a growing number of people have become richer and owned their own cars. However, the emergence and increase of private cars cause serious environmental pollution, which leads to a great debate on whether the owners of private cars should pay for the pollution tax. As far as I am concerned, it is necessary and reasonable for our country to levy pollution tax on private cars. My reasons are as following.

As we all know, private cars produce harmful gases, such as carbon monoxide and sulfur dioxide, which pollute our environment and aggravate the global warming. By levying pollution, our country can get more money to deal with the environmental problems.For example, our country can improve environmental protection equipment with the help of the money. What's more, people owning private cars may go out by bus or other vehicles as a consequence of extra paying for pollution tax. Besides, people who have the thought of buying a car may consider putting off the plan. Therefore, the number of private cars will not increase so rapidly like today. And environmental problems will be alleviated.

All in all, the measure can reduce the pollution that private cars bring about efficiently. Our country should persist in this measure and people should obey the rule to protect our environment.
