Rumor is the most primitive way of spreading stories ---- by passing them on from mouth to mouth. However, with the development of Internet technology, it provides people with convenient communication tools such as WeChat, Weibo and QQ, which will promote the spread of rumors. One example is the abuse of children in kindergartens recently.

Internet rumors will definitely result in severe consequences. To begin with, the faked-up stories will infringe upon citizen's rights, affecting their judgment and preventing them from knowing the truth. In addition, the dissemination of rumors such as those about social or natural disasters will cause public panic and disorder among societies. Just like this time, it hurts the people's liberation army's prestige because there was a rumor that the wire-puller was a military background. Last but not least, Internet rumors will undermine the credibility of the Internet to such a degree that people will no longer trust it in the future. At least for me, I'm not going to trust the Internet any more easily, instead, I will choose to question it in the first place.

As mentioned above, we should take measures to minimize its harm. At first, the authorities and relevant departments should strengthen the supervision of network information and stop the circulation of rumors. What's more, as the saying goes, "Rumors stop at the wise." The people themselves should not believe rumors easily nor spread them deliberately.
