The essence of face lies in the drive for acception of the society. However, many people perhaps make mistakes when they understand the word "face".

Last week, I learned an article in the class. This story was about the first day that the author entered her university. She experienced two terrible things--- sitting in the wrong classroom and falling down in the cafeteria. All the shame and humiliation came to her. She lost her face in front of others. So, she didn't go to the cafeteria three days until she witnessed a superior football player falling down like her. She expected him to slink out of the cafeteria as she had, but instead he got up and began preparing another tray. The author understood finally that the face might not be so important.

In China, people have a kind of special feeling to face, they are more interested in face than people in other countries.However, sometimes, focusing on one's inner character is more necessary.
