Reading a book or listening to a book

With the development of science and technology, the ways of obtaining information now become more diverse. Generally speaking, people can extract information through the Internet and books. However, in recent years, due to the rapid pace of life, more and more young people who have no time to read a book completely, tend to listen to a book.

In my viewpoint, listening to a book is not as efficient as most people think. First and foremost, reading a book is a process of requiring knowledge and communicating with the author. If the thoughts contained in a book are compared to delicious food, like that, reading it is a process of chewing and ingesting. In contrast, listening to a book seems like eating what others have chewed, which no one will really satisfy with. Therefore, although it sounds tough to read a book, yet one should be patient and consider reading as a process of enjoying a bid meal by self. Besides, compared with listening to a book, reading helps people make full sense of the book. Unlike completely receiving information when listening, people are also thinking knowledge in the mind when they are reading. Thinking deepens understanding of contents of the article, which prompts people to grab the valuable information and main idea. Finally, people are apt to remember a book via reading it rather than listening to it, especially for who has good habits of noting.

A good book is just like a good friend. To maintain the friendship, people need to spend time in communicating with their friends. For books, the above method also applies to them.
