Is it a waste of talent for a Peking University graduate to work as a painter?

Su Lijie, a 39-year-old female graduate of Peking University, one of the most prestigious universities in China, ended up working as a house painter back in her hometown. Her decision drew widespread attention and triggered a heated debate whether it is a waste of talent for a Peking University graduate to work as a painter on the Internet.

From my point of view, it is certainly not a waste to be a painter after graduating from Peking University. My reasons are as follows.

For one thing, it apparently exists the problems of occupational discrimination among the people in this event. People believe some jobs are superior to others. For example, senior engineers are thought highly of but painters not. It means that a job's wage, room for improvement and even popularity will be the most important factors before they choose a job. Actually, this prejudice of occupation will deeply interfere with people's choices which maybe leads to a huge change of industrial structure.

For another thing, it is reported that nowadays the phenomenon of professional mismatch is significantly existent in the job market. In other words, there is no need to find a job that suits majors very much. What we have learnt in the university mostly is to improve their ability of thinking and solving the problems and to perfect values. What we have learnt in the university does not disappear whichever jobs we choose.

All in all, it is our right to choose a job that we decide to. No matter which jobs we choose or which arena we take part in, what does make sense is to pursue dreams and goals to achieve the values of life.

Don't let the professions choose ourselves because we can only do things well in that we are active. Even the profession we choose may not be the best one, but just like it and do!

All work is equal. People should not laugh at others' jobs. It is our right to choose a job. We should respect them.

YES all jobs should be treated equally. Our rights should be treated equally. It means don't judge jobs by their appearance.

Everyone all has right to choose job. As an English major, I was always considered that I will be hard to find a job after graduating. Anyway, I will always stick to my choice.

I think although english major is hard to find a suitable job easily, it is a convenient tool to take part in other arena.
