A flock of egrets flew in the sky, their wings flickering in whitish rays.

A flock of birds were flying in the sky in V shape. The leader was the strongest bird. A strong bird brought up the rear. In the middle, there were small birds.

Before birds migrate in autumn from the north, they ate plenty of food by waterside. When they took flight, they flap their wings then glide in the air. While gliding, they saved lots of energy. They flew for long distances, guided by the sun at day time and Polaris at nightfall. They might cross the sea or desert. In the woods in the south, they land on treetops.

In spring, the birds   build nests. They collect twigs, feathers and clay. When the nest was built, they lined the nest with feathers. Swallows lay eggs in their nests. And when the chicks were hatched, they fly everywhere looking for insects or berries for the little birds.

The storks would fly in flocks across the sea. And they prefered to land on roofs with wheels on them. They would build their nests in the wheels. In a school in Holland, children and the teacher put a wheel on the roof of the school, waiting for the storks to land on. A stork perched in the classroom. It was a tall bird, with white plumage, long beaks and beady eyes.

A robin is always in high spirit in winter or in spring. It is a harbinger of early spring. It would always call out in melodious tones. A red breasted robin sounds cheerful.

A woodpecker drummed on a tree trunk and found a worm.
