THE New Year’s Day of the year 2000 was the most special. It was the beginning of the New Year, and what’s more, it was the first day of the New Millennium. All the young souls looked forward to this day, and 219 Dorm looked anew. The girls blew many balloons to decorate the dorm. They believed at the moment when the New Millennium bell stroke, there must be surprises for everyone.

It was true. On the evening of the New Millennium, Lucy came back and told them her boy friend had said “I love you!” for the first time, very formally. She said, at that time, she was extremely surprised, touched, and excited. What a romantic moment! They were walking hand in hand in the drifting snow under the road lamp when the school bell rang. This ray of sunshine was like herself, who walked from the last millennium, full of happiness and inspiration, being curious of the secrets in the coming millennium. 

At this moment, a magnificent inspiration burst upon her. She patted her head and she determined to attempt to compose a novel! In English! 

She picked up her pen and her notebook, capturing the drifting inspirations and starting the preface of the novel very quickly: On the day of New Millennium, Sunshine was enchanted by the landscape on the earth so much that she did not return to the sky until sunset. Her father, the Sun, punished her to stay the whole year on the earth. During this year Sunshine visited many strange places, and experienced many strange things…The more she wrote, the more inspiration she got. Very soon she added her dolls to her novel, led by Sunshine to live and wander in the world of fantasy. To amaze the readers, a plan occurred to her. She decided to adapt a new style of writing. The novel should be composed of many diaries of each character, and the diaries must be put together to form a whole story. 

As she was writing, it got bright. The first day of the New Millennium had begun. Sophie believed that the New Millennium would be filled with inspirations and delight. She had found her true happiness ——composing her novels in English.
