It is my grandma’s birthday today on Qixi Festival, a date which is easily remembered for being “the Chinese Valentine’s Day”.

My grandma is getting on in years, so her dementia hinders her from thinking about lovers’ romance. The one who cares about her most is certainly my grandpa, who arranges her life every day—on food, clothing, covering quilt and all the basic that seem complicated.

Though grandma would not feel consciously about the celebrating atmosphere, grandpa still invited mother and me to dine together. It was a joyful dinner with many familiar dishes. Grandma’s table manners were clumsy, but it exactly proved that she was enjoying the feast.

By whom will we be taken care of when we are old? As I am growing mature, I have been aware that family members are the closest to look after us. I could still remember those rebellious days when I speak aloud about self-independence, but now I know without the backing of family, I would not live a light-hearted life.
