Habit is a magical thing: good habits can make a man good, and the bad habits make him bad. Habit plays the primary role to develop a person. When it has become a second nature, there will be no difficulty for a man to carry on doing a certain thing.
Habit is different from discipline, which may be the previous condition to form a good habit. Discipline is putting stress on the thing which is required to be done, and is fairly reluctant. To make a discipline habitual, one has to first cultivate interest.
Interest is the mother of success—this saying is not an empty talk. It can be well interpreted in a rational line: the interest takes the root, the discipline corrects the posture and the habit grows as the plant. Without interest a man can’t be motivated, thus he will have no driving force to conquer any indolence.
To conclude: interest affords the impetus, discipline makes the labour in rules, and they together constitute the habit of regular effort with least pains.
