As one of the middle-level leaders, I don’t have to inspect the students answering their papers in the exam rooms. Without any lessons to prepare, without any papers to mark, also without any mistakes from the students’ homework to correct, I’m not so busy as usual. So again, and not for ages, I am able to afford to sit in our school’s reading room, enjoying the pleasure of reading, even though it’s only a short moment of peace, only a short moment of enjoyment.

It has always been my dream that after leaving college I could take up an ideal occupation where I could enjoy English every day. Whenever I come across a beautiful article written in English, I will feel a kind of excitement which can not be choked back, wishing it could be out of my own hand. But the dream has turned out only to be a dream never to be realized. Ever since I became a teacher, I have been separated from the English world. Always having so many things to do, I have completely lost myself in the world of my students.

Now picking up the English magazines and newspapers, I feel like seeing my old friends. Long time no see! How are you, my dear friends? I’m only too glad to see all of you again! Now I’ve come to accompany you. Thinking about this, I can’t keep back my tears. Isn’t it funny? After all ,I 'm already a man of 36.But what I write here is true.

Frankly speaking, I love but sometimes hate to be a teacher. Being a teacher has robbed me of too much time. At 5:30 every morning, with the alarm clock awaking me from sound sleep and eyes still closed, I have to drag myself out of bed, and then hurry to the school. Sometimes I can’t go back home until 11: 00 at night. One examination after another makes teachers out of breath. Frequently teachers have to face criticism from the headmaster.

Fortunately, news comes from the education conference held in Weifang, the city of kite, that no school will be allowed to give lessons during the winter break. And it is likely that we don’t have to work on weekends any more from the next semester on. It’s also reported that any headmaster of senior high school who does not promise to carry out the so-called quality education has to resign from the position.

 What news! We teachers have been looking forward to this for ages. How I wish it could be true! It’s high time that we should be freed from all these burdens. It’s high time that we enjoyed the air of freedom!!
